RootedNSoul, LLC is a Black and women-owned consulting firm that helps organizations make a bigger impact through events, partnerships, and storytelling. We work where philanthropy, entertainment, and community meet, making sure our clients' missions connect with the people who need to hear them most. Whether it's organizing meaningful events or crafting a message that moves people to act, we bring strategy and heart to everything we do.
The company was founded by Michelle Jones Simms, whose path to entrepreneurship began during the pandemic. After being laid off right before becoming a new mom, Michelle took time to reflect on what mattered mos…family, wellness, and purpose. That experience inspired her to start RootedNSoul, a business rooted in care, equity, and community. With a background in counseling, cultural strategy, and DEI, Michelle has supported mission-driven work across the nonprofit, startup, and education spaces.
Our work focuses on three main areas: event strategy, program development, and brand storytelling. We plan and produce impactful events, build strong partnerships, and create campaigns that reflect our clients’ missions and values. Every project is approached with authenticity and a deep understanding of the communities we aim to reach.
We’ve had the opportunity to partner with organizations like MomsRising, the Why Not? Foundation, Harness, Birth Center Equity, and the Hollywood Cares Foundation. From large-scale influencer campaigns and fundraising events to public health initiatives and community storytelling, our work has helped organizations grow their impact, secure funding, and engage the public in powerful ways.
What makes RootedNSoul different is our cultural awareness and our commitment to building real, lasting relationships. We don’t just provide services we become trusted partners in creating change. With a Local Small Business Enterprise (LSBE) and Small Business certifications and expertise in consulting, marketing, and public engagement, we’re excited to keep working with those who are ready to make a difference through creative, community-centered solutions.

Founder of RootedNSoul, Michelle Jones Simms is a change agent dedicated to identifying and building partnerships with organizations that share her vision of creating economic and equitable opportunities that push for culture change in communities of color.
Michelle’s drive to create a hub for wellness and social change developed during the global pandemic. After navigating many life transitions, Michelle paused and re-examined what family, career, and happiness meant to her. In turn, she reconnected with her love for nature, plants, and other holistic forms of healing to identify new self-practices, rituals, and remedies that could nurture her mind, body, and soul. This inspiration led Michelle to explore entrepreneurship and ways she could be more intentional with the companies she worked with, as well as how she could give back what she learned to her community. From this birth, RootedNSoul LLC.
Michelle has a proven record of leading cultural strategies and solutions around diversity, equity, and inclusion for national non-profits, start-ups, and academic institutions. In the past, she’s developed, spearheaded, and produced special programs, initiatives, and events for the Children’s Defense Fund California, The Riordan Programs at UCLA Anderson School, and TIME’S UP.
Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Hampton University.
